๐ Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Set Up Stable Surface and Staging
Place a clean, dry cereal bowl on a flat, non-slip tabletop or countertop. Position the cereal box to the dominant hand side and the milk jug on the other side with the handle facing outward. Lay a dry napkin or paper towel beside the bowl for quick cleanups.
- โข Bowl centered on flat surface with unobstructed space around the rim
- โข Placing the bowl too close to the edge of the counter
Open and Prep the Cereal Bag
Open the top cardboard flaps of the cereal box carefully without tearing them. Pull the two sides of the inner plastic liner apart from the center seam until a 3-inch opening forms. Avoid ripping the plastic down the side seams to maintain freshness and pouring control.
- โข Inner plastic liner has a clean, neat opening at the top center
- โข Tearing the inner bag jaggedly down the side, causing uncontrolled cereal flow
Pour Cereal Base
Grip the cereal box firmly with your dominant hand around the middle of the box. Tilt the box at a 45-degree angle over the center of the bowl, allowing cereal to slide gently until the bowl is filled to approximately 60-70% capacity. Return the box upright smoothly to stop the flow.
- โข Cereal mound resting evenly below the bowl's inner rim by about 1 inch
- โข Overfilling the bowl to the very brim, leaving no room for milk
Pour Milk Along the Inner Perimeter
Hold the chilled milk container securely by the handle with one hand, supporting the base with your other hand if heavy. Tilt the spout close to the inner edge of the bowl and pour in a slow, steady stream around the perimeter rather than directly on top of the cereal mound. Stop pouring when the milk rises to just below the top layer of cereal.
- โข Milk level visible around the edges, with top flakes remaining crisp and dry
- โข Pouring heavy stream directly onto the center, crushing cereal and causing splashing
Seal Containers and Stage Spoon
Fold the inner cereal bag tightly down into the box and tuck the cardboard tab into the slot. Cap the milk jug tightly and return it immediately to the refrigerator. Place your spoon into the bowl at a shallow angle ready for eating.
