๐ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Soak the Charcoal Filter Cartridge
Submerge the new charcoal filter cartridge completely in a bowl or tall glass filled with cold tap water. Allow it to soak undisturbed for a full 5 minutes. This activates the carbon media and allows trapped air to escape.
- โข Filter cartridge is fully submerged under water with air bubbles ceased rising.
- โข Letting the cartridge float dry on top without fully submerging it.
- โข Skipping the soak time, which leaves dry pockets inside the filter media.
Rinse Filter Under Running Water
Remove the cartridge from the soaking glass and hold it under a gentle stream of cold running water. Rinse it continuously for 60 seconds to wash away loose carbon dust. Ensure the water flowing through the mesh runs completely clear.
- โข Rinse runoff water dripping from the cartridge is crystal clear with no black carbon specks.
- โข Using high water pressure that tears the delicate mesh pouch.
- โข Rinsing for only a few seconds, allowing loose carbon dust into your brew tank.
Clean Filter Handle Base Mesh
Separate the top handle shaft from the lower filter cage if they are attached. Rinse the fine stainless or plastic mesh screen at the bottom of the lower holder under warm water to clear debris. Wipe the outside dry with a clean cloth.
- โข Lower filter basket mesh screen is completely free of sediment or scale buildup.
- โข Using abrasive scrubbers that scratch or puncture the fine mesh screen.
Set the Date Dial Reminder
Locate the rotating dial ring on the upper section of the filter handle. Turn the dial until the arrow points to the calendar month two months ahead of your current month. This sets your visual replacement reminder.
- โข Dial indicator clearly aligns with the month 2 months ahead of today's date.
- โข Setting the dial to the current month instead of the expiration month.
- โข Forgetting to adjust the dial before snapping the housing shut.
Assemble the Filter Housing
Place the soaked cartridge flat into the lower filter holder compartment with the rounded side down. Align the upper handle shaft over the base and press down firmly until the side locking tabs snap audibly into place.
- โข Both plastic locking tabs are fully engaged and flush with the side walls of the handle.
- โข Pinching the cartridge edge between the plastic housing tabs, preventing closure.
- โข Failing to snap both sides completely, causing the housing to float apart.
Lock Assembly Into the Reservoir
Remove the water reservoir lid and locate the circular water intake port at the bottom of the tank. Insert the assembled filter handle base directly over the intake port and push down firmly until it locks securely onto the valve base.
- โข Filter handle stands upright, fully seated flat against the bottom floor of the reservoir without floating.
- โข Resting the filter loosely over the intake without pressing down to seat the locking tabs.
- โข Installing the filter tilted at an angle.
